Two-factor-authentication

Short answer:

Two-factor authentication (2FA) provides extra protection for your Coinfox account. After enabling 2FA, the password alone is no longer sufficient to log in – a six-digit code from your smartphone is also required. This method ensures that only you (with your personal device) have access to your account.

Long answer:

Setting up two-factor authentication at Coinfox is quick and significantly increases the security of your account:

  1. Navigate to settings: Log in to Coinfox and go to the Account Management or Security section. There you will find the option Enable Two-Factor Authentication.
  2. Prepare the authenticator app: Download a common authenticator app to your smartphone if you don't have one yet (e.g., Google Authenticator, Authy, or Microsoft Authenticator).
  3. Scan the QR code: Once you activate 2FA in Coinfox, a QR code (or a secret key) will be displayed. Scan this code with the authenticator app. Your Coinfox account will then be added to the app and will start generating one-time 6-digit codes.
  4. Confirmation: Enter the code currently displayed in the app into Coinfox to complete the setup. Also, note any displayed backup codes in a secure place. These can help if you ever lose access to the app.
  5. Future logins: For every login to your Coinfox account, you will now be prompted to enter the current code from your authenticator app after entering the password. Only then will access to the account be granted.

With 2FA enabled, your account is protected even if someone knows your password. Example: An unauthorized person learns your password but cannot log in without the code from your authenticator app. Remember: If you lose your authenticator device or can no longer access it, contact Coinfox support. After verifying your identity, they can reset the 2FA for your account so you can regain access.

In summary, two-factor authentication is a simple and effective method to significantly enhance the security of your Coinfox account. We recommend all users to use 2FA.
